Our Leadership Team

The Steering Committee provides strategic leadership and general oversight for the Collaborative. The Committee helps guide the Collaborative’s long-term direction, ensures mission alignment, and strengthens coordination across sectors. Working closely with the Network Management Team, the Steering Committee supports strategic planning, governance, fiscal oversight, and communications.

The Network Management Team provides day-to-day support for the Collaborative. The team oversees Collaborative operations, program delivery, and financial management, while providing administrative and technical support to the Steering Committee and Committees. Working in close partnership with the Steering Committee, the team ensures the Collaborative remains coordinated and resourced to advance

Ana Rosa Rizo Centino

Senior Organizer, United Farm Workers

Ana Rosa’s work focuses on community co-powerment, government transparency through language justice, environmental justice issues, clean energy transition and support for working families. She is the chairwoman for the Santa Barbara County Equity Advisory & Outreach Committee, she is also the Environmental Justice Representative on the EJ/Workforce Alliance Coordinating Team, has formed a Community Cumulative Impacts Commission, fasted to fight public transportation price hikes, pushed for the planting of a thousand trees and fought for more green open space in her hometown. Ana Rosa has also served as Network Manager of the Central Coast Climate Justice Network (C3JN), Central Coast Senior Organizer for Food & Water Watch, Mayor and Planning Commissioner for the City of Maywood, Executive Director for PUEBLO & PUEBLO Education Fund, California Lead Organizer for the National Farm Worker Ministry, and the National Coordinator for the Student Labor Action Project for the United States Student Association and Jobs with Justice. She currently works for the United Farm Workers, as well as Greenpeace and is the mother of 2 amazing daughters.

Dana Murray

Sustainability Manager, City of Goleta

Dana leads the City of Goleta's sustainability policies and programs related to climate action, renewable energy, climate adaptation and resiliency, and plastic pollution reduction as the City's Sustainability Manager. She was formerly the Environmental Sustainability Manager in Manhattan Beach where she worked on coastal adaptation planning for sea level rise, native habitat restoration, and climate change mitigation. Dana is a Steering Committee Member of Green Cities California and a member of the Urban Sustainability Directors Network, and also served on the Board of Directors for the Clean Power Alliance of Southern California and as Co-Chair of the L.A. Marine Protected Areas Collaborative. Prior to local government, Dana was the Senior Marine Scientist at Heal the Bay where she worked on science and policy issues related to coastal habitats, sustainable fisheries, and marine wildlife in California. She is also a returned Peace Corps Volunteer and has made hundreds of scientific dives underwater as a research SCUBA diver for Reef Check. Dana earned her master’s degree in Environmental Science and Management from UCSB's Bren School, specializing in Conservation Planning and Coastal Marine Resource Management, and her bachelor’s in Geography and Environmental Studies from UCLA.

Katie Maynard

Director of Student Sustainability Initiatives, UCSB

Katie is responsible for supporting UCSB Sustainability Programs and Initiatives through consultation with the Chancellor's Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC), while directing student-led sustainability efforts. This includes coordinating fundraising through Student Affairs Grants and Development, grant management, development and stewardship of strategic partnerships, provides program development and management of multi-departmental and multi-disciplinary initiatives, assists with strategic planning, partners with the academic community to integrate sustainability into the curriculum, tracking and reporting on campus sustainability metrics, strategic communications and marketing, and providing consultation to campus community on sustainability issues. She acts as a campus point of contact for select sustainability initiatives and programs. Katie was awarded the UC Sustainability Champion Award in July 2019. She is also Principal Investigator for a REACH 2.0 Electric Vehicle Charging Program Grant and the USDA CalFresh Outreach Grant.

Primitiva Hernandez

Executive Director, 805Undocufund

Primitiva Hernandez became the Executive Director of the 805Undocufund as of January 2024, serving Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Born in Mexico and raised on the California Central Coast, Primitiva proudly represents the Latino community as the daughter of farmworker parents. As a current DACA recipient, she has lived through the challenges faced by undocumented immigrants, both as a college student and a working parent. With over a decade of experience in leadership roles within the nonprofit sector and the Santa Barbara Housing Authorities, Primitiva brings a wealth of expertise to her new position. She currently serves as Board Secretary for Importa Santa Barbara, the largest provider of immigration legal services in Santa Barbara County approved by the Department of Justice. She holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from Antioch University Santa Barbara, known for its social justice leadership, and an Associate’s Degree from Santa Barbara City College, recognized as the best community college campus in California.

Rodney Loehr

Utility Conservation Coordinator, City of Lompoc

Rodney is an accomplished professional with expertise in water and energy conservation, currently serving as the Utility Conservation Coordinator for the City of Lompoc. He is also the founder of AquaViable Solutions, a company revolutionizing water access by creating pure drinking water from atmospheric humidity. With a Master’s degree in Public Policy specializing in Water Resources Management from Northern Arizona University, Rodney combines technical proficiency, policy expertise, and innovative solutions to promote equity in sustainability and resource efficiency for the future.

Sara Lee Macdonald

NAACP Lompoc-Santa Maria

Fueled by deep passion, lifelong Santa Maria resident Sara Macdonald has devoted countless hours to volunteering and advocating for her local community. Macdonald currently serves in several volunteer roles, including president of the Democratic Club of Santa Maria Valley, Central Coast regional representative for the California Poor People’s Campaign, and vice chair of the CenCal Health Community Advisory Board. As someone who grew up in Santa Maria and continues to live there, she recognizes the community’s needs.

Climate Project Manager, Community Environmental Council

Sean serves as a Project Manager at Community Environmental Council, where he leads initiatives in Energy, Transportation, and Climate Justice. With a dedicated focus on advancing an equitable transition to zero-emission transportation, Sean strives to make renewable energy accessible to all and provide critical air quality information to disadvantaged communities. His work is driven by a commitment to fostering sustainable, inclusive solutions that address the urgent challenges of climate change.

How to Join the Steering Committee

Steering Committee membership is open to pre-existing members who are based in, or work closely with, Santa Barbara County. The Committee strives to maintain representation across regions, sectors, and communities. 

 

Seats are filled as openings become available. Interested members are encouraged to express interest by contacting the Network Management Team to learn about current or upcoming opportunities.

Steering Committee Meetings & Materials

The Steering Committee meets virtually on the second Thursday every other month from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Meeting agendas, notes, and recordings are made publicly available to support transparency and shared understanding across the network.

The Network Management Team is situated within the Sustainability Division of the County of Santa Barbara. The Sustainability Division serves as the organizational backbone of the Collaborative, providing funding, coordination, and financial management in service of sustaining the Collaborative. The Network Management Team supports the Collaborative in a variety of ways including meeting facilitation, coordination across committees, fundraising and grant support, contract management, and outreach and engagement.
